SENIOR SAFETY HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT SPECIALIST

Description

The Senior Safety Health and Environment Specialist is responsible for conducting field-based environmental analyses, including the collection and evaluation of air, water, soil, and biodiversity data. This role ensures that geothermal projects comply with national and international environmental regulations and supports sustainable practices in field operations.

Main job responsibilities:

A. Environmental Data Collection and Analysis

• Collect environmental samples (air, water, soil) following standard operating procedures
• Analyze environmental data using statistical and modeling software.
• Prepare comprehensive reports detailing findings for internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead, prepare and manage PROPER, SUBROTO-ESDM award programs.

B. Compliance and Permiting

• Ensure adherence to Indonesian environmental regulations, including AMDAL, UKL/UPL, and ISO 14001.
• Coordinate with government agencies to secure necessary environmental permits.

C. Monitoring and Evaluation

• Conduct regular environmental monitoring for routine operations and project activities.
• Assess the effectiveness of environmental management programs and recommend improvements.

D. Controlling 3rd party contractors in performing environmental compliance services

E. Training and Capacity Building

• Provide training to staff and contractors on best environmental management practices.
• Develop training materials and operational guidelines related to environmental procedures.

General requirements

1. Bachelor's Degree (S1) in Environmental Engineering, or a related technical engineering discipline.
2. Experience minimum 7-10 years in environmental management within the energy sector, mining or oil and gas.
3. Technical Skills: strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (local and international).
4. Proven experience in preparing and managing AMDAL, RKL/RPL. GRK, SIMPEL, and other environmental documentation.
5. Environmental risk assessment and mitigation planning.
6. Experience in environmental monitoring (air, water, soil,noise).
7. Familiarity with geothermal field operations and environmental challenges, or similar fields work environtment.
8. Understanding of biodiversity and conservation practices.
9. Experience in managing and lead of PROPER, SUBROTO-ESDM award program.
10. Experience in environmental certifications and audit (ISO 14001, SMK3, SMK2).
11. Soft Skills and Managerial Abilities: strong leadership and team coordination, especially with field and contractor teams.
12. Cross-functional communication with internal departments and external stakeholders.
13. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills in field-based situations.
14. Ability to write technical reports and deliver presentations to regulators, partners, and communities both in Bahasa and English.
15. Project and time management under tight deadlines.
16. Capable in using Microsoft office and environmental engineering-related software, e.g. LCA (Life Cycle Assessment).

Other Requirements:

1. Willingness to work in remote or challenging field environments.
2. Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
3. Familiarity with field conditions in geothermal or similar energy sectors.
