VP Finance, Accounting & Tax

We're looking to recruit a new VP Finance, Accounting & Tax to join a well-funded and profitable start-up. Based in Jakarta, and reporting to the CEO, the objective is to ensure the integrity of the numbers, cash discipline, and statutory compliance of the company

About the VP Finance, Accounting & Tax:

The role focuses on what is real, what is collectable, what is payable, and what is defensible to the auditors, regulators, and tax authorities. A wide range of day-to-day responsibilities would include:

• Own the monthly close process with strict timelines
• Enforce consistent accounting treatment across products, channels, and entities
• Maintain clean audit trails and documentation
• Define and enforce a clear EBITDA framework
• Flag distortions from one-offs, accrual timing, capitalization, or reclassifications
• Partner with BI & FP&A to ensure analytical views reconcile to statutory numbers
• Own credit policies, invoicing discipline, and collection escalation
• Identify bad debt risk early and recommend provisions or write-offs
• Ensure full compliance with corporate income tax, VAT, and withholding taxes
• Manage transfer pricing documentation and intercompany charges
• Partner with Legal and Compliance on regulatory reporting where required

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10-years experience in finance, accounting, or controllership roles

Skills and experience needed:

• Experience in high-growth tech, fintech, marketplace, or regulated industries preferred
• Prior Big 4 experience is a strong plus
• Deep understanding of accounting standards, EBITDA mechanics, and balance sheet management
• Strong command of tax, VAT, and intercompany transactions
• Experience managing audits and tax authorities
