The Role
This is a key role supporting fish health and farm production across Lake Toba operations. As a veterinarian, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of aquatic animals. This includes diagnosing and treating diseases, conducting research to improve disease prevention and control, and supporting site teams to maintain high aquaculture health standards. Your leadership and technical expertise will play a critical role in farm productivity and fish quality.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine and targeted health assessments of fish populations.
Diagnose and treat fish diseases and respond to health issues effectively.
Develop and implement disease prevention and control programs.
Support the development and application of new aquaculture health technologies.
Provide expert technical support and mentoring to aquaculture site teams.
Ensure full compliance with safety and SOP procedures, and guide subordinates accordingly.
Fulfill weekly and monthly reporting obligations related to fish health and farm operations.
Collaborate with various managers (General Manager, Lake Manager, Operations Manager, Area/Site Managers, Quality, Laboratory, and Hatchery) as needed.
Contribute to planning for stocking, harvesting, and cage-related activities.
Be actively involved in emergency or force majeure situations at the site.
Requirements
Candidate MUST have:
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
At least 5 years of proven experience in aquaculture.
Strong background in fish health and disease management.
In-depth knowledge of fish husbandry and aquatic veterinary care.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and the use of relevant software tools (Excel, etc.).
Ability to work under pressure, both independently and collaboratively.
Computer literacy and the ability to analyze trends from field data.
Preferably residing in North Sumatra, especially in Ajibata, Parapat or surrounding areas.
