Role Overview
As a Shipping Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading and supervising all coal shipping operations at our port site, ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient coal loading and shipment to customers. This role requires strong coordination skills with multiple stakeholders (internal and external) and deep knowledge of coal shipping operations and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise end-to-end coal shipping operations at the port site.
- Ensure coal loading activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in line with operational targets.
- Coordinate shipping schedules, cargo loading, tug/barge operations, and mother vessel transfers.
- Manage shipping documentation, including Bill of Lading, shipping instructions, survey reports, and customs clearance.
- Monitor daily shipping progress, anticipate delays, and implement solutions to minimize demurrage and operational risks.
- Liaise effectively with internal teams (mining, hauling, port) and external parties (charterers, surveyors, agents, vessel operators).
- Enforce compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards across all shipping activities.
- Coach, direct, and evaluate the Shipping & Port team to achieve departmental KPIs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Shipping/Port Management, or related field.
- Minimum 710 years of experience in coal shipping or bulk commodity port operations.
- Strong knowledge of coal logistics, shipping operations, port activities, and maritime/customs regulations.
- Proven leadership in supervising shipping/port operations with measurable achievements.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Willing to work at remote site (Kutai Timur, East Kalimantan) with roster system.
