We are seeking an experienced Senior Commodities Manager to lead origination, merchandising, and trading activities in the coal and mineral ore business. Based in Jakarta, you will play a key role in expanding our supplier and customer network, originating business, and delivering profitable growth for the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Originate, develop, and maintain relationships with producers, miners, traders, and end-users in the coal and ore sector across Indonesia and international markets.
- Lead merchandising activities: negotiating contracts, structuring deals, and optimising trade flows.
- Monitor market trends, pricing dynamics, freight, and regulatory changes to identify commercial opportunities.
- Manage physical trades from origination through to logistics, shipping, and delivery.
- Coordinate with internal teams (risk, operations, logistics, and finance) to ensure smooth execution of contracts.
- Contribute to strategic planning for business expansion in the Indonesian and regional commodities markets.
- Provide regular reporting on P&L, risk exposure, and market outlook.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 812 years experience in commodities trading, with strong expertise in coal and mineral ore markets.
- Proven track record in origination and merchandising with established industry relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to structure profitable deals.
- Good knowledge of international shipping, contracts, and risk management in commodities.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese is a strong advantage.
