Propagation Lead
SITE MERAUKE
Key Responsibilities:
- As Propagation Lead, you will be report directly to Varieties Manager
- Contribute to annual work plans and budget proposals for MNM mother plot management.
- Align objectives with R&D goals and field operations.
- Ensure that all MNM mother plots and propagation plots are planted using a nucleus of approved varieties that are disease free and true-to-type.
- Maintain strict quality-control and plant hygiene measures to protect the disease-free status and variety purity of mother plots from planting to seed harvest.
- Long range planning for site selection that ensures new propagation locations at MNM are well drained and fallowed for longer than 6 months with no volunteer cane present.
- Manage and maintain propagations and mother plots to a high standard to produce viable and clean seed cane.
- Follow nutrient and weed management plans set by management.
- Oversee any Hot Water Treatment facility planning, construction and operations planned for MNM.
- Maintain technical records of farm management inputs and activities. Fertilizer and herbicide applications.
- Liaise with agronomy consultants, variety trial staff and regulatory bodies. (e.g quarantine officials).
- Understand and practice correct in-field variety identification and training.
- Mentor and deliver training to increase team knowledge and skills.
- Ensure full PPE use and environmental safeguards (e.g., buffer zones near waterways) during farm operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Agriculture
- You hold a degree in a relevant agricultural discipline with at least 10 years of professional postgraduate experience in sugarcane farming.
- Experienced in sugarcane planting and a good grasp of disease risk and hygiene standards.
- Experience in mechanical farm operations is highly regarded.
- Competence in sugarcane crop management including nutrition, weed management and irrigation.
- Extensive experience leading sugarcane field operation teams including training and mentoring junior staff.
- Competence in good fallow management practices and break crop establishment.
- An understanding of the pests and diseases of sugarcane relevant to Indonesia.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a track record of maintaining detailed technical data.
- Analytical mindset with strong problemsolving abilities.
- Proactive, collaborative, and safetyconscious approach.
