This role owns end-to-end packaging development at Tentang Anak, from concept and design through supplier readiness and mass production, ensuring packaging is functional, compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with brand direction. Working cross-functionally, you will drive packaging innovation, manage artwork and regulatory compliance, optimize costs, and ensure production readiness in a fast-paced environment supporting our mission to serve Indonesian children and families.
Job Responsibility
End-to-End Packaging Development
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept prototype supplier development mass production readiness.
- Translate product concept and brand direction into feasible packaging solutions (primary + secondary).
- Manage packaging specification development including material, dimensions, artwork guidelines, and print specs.
Packaging Innovation & Improvement
- Explore new packaging formats/materials to improve user experience, product safety, and differentiation in market.
- Conduct packaging benchmarking and continuously propose improvements in aesthetics, function, and sustainability.
- Support brand innovation by proposing cost-effective and manufacturable packaging designs aligned with brand identity.
Artwork Development & Compliance
- Coordinate and manage packaging artwork development with internal creative team and external agencies.
- Ensure artwork and packaging comply with regulatory requirements (BPOM labeling, barcode readiness, mandatory claims, ingredient list, caution statements).
- Handle packaging approval process and ensure final output is aligned with timeline and quality standards.
Supplier & Cost Management
- Source, evaluate, and recommend packaging suppliers based on quality, cost competitiveness, lead time, and reliability.
- Drive packaging cost optimization initiatives (value engineering, material/spec adjustment, MOQ efficiency, supplier comparison).
- Support procurement negotiation with data (cost breakdown, spec benchmarking, alternative materials).
Testing, Quality & Production Support
- Coordinate packaging testing including compatibility, leakage, stability, drop test, sealing performance, usability, and transportation stress.
- Ensure production readiness by coordinating with manufacturer, supply chain, and QA on packaging SOP & QC standards.
- Troubleshoot packaging-related issues in pilot and mass production; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Project Management & Cross Functional Collaboration
- Own packaging development timeline, deliverables, and risk mitigation plans as part of NPD project execution.
- Work closely with PD, QC and QA, Procurement, Supply Chain, OEM, and Commercial team to ensure packaging success.
- Maintain packaging development documentation for all SKUs (spec sheet, supplier info, final artwork, change log).
Requirements
Experience & Background
- Minimum 5 years experience in Packaging Development / Packaging Engineering / Product Development, preferably in FMCG, personal care, baby/kids care, cosmetics, or pharma.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end packaging development projects (primary + secondary packaging).
- Experience in handling supplier development, cost optimization, and packaging troubleshooting during production.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of packaging materials (plastic, paper, glass, aluminum), printing methods, and packaging structures.
- Familiar with packaging testing and validation (compatibility, leakage, drop test, shipping test, stability packaging).
- Knowledge of regulatory packaging requirements (BPOM labeling, barcode readiness, claim limitation, safety statement).
Core Skills
- Strong project management & stakeholder management skills (able to coordinate cross function).
- Excellent attention to detail (spec accuracy, artwork review, compliance).
- Strong negotiation mindset and analytical thinking for cost saving and supplier evaluation.
- High ownership, ability to work in fast-paced environment with tight launch timelines.
Preferred
- Experience with packaging for personal care products (shampoo/body wash/cleanser) and/or Pharma.
- Experience working with OEM/CM and internal brand team.
- Familiarity with sustainability packaging initiatives is a plus.
