I. Position in the Organization
Ii. Job Purpose
- To implement sales strategies as directed by Sales Director Retail to achieve target in terms of Sales (volume and value), market share, collection, and distribution coverage at a budgeted gross margin and within the Sales, Customer Service and After Sales Support departments expenses budget.
Iii. Principal Accountabilities
Implementing business strategies for the Indonesia market, by leading the Sales
Retail, Admin & Regional Sales Manager teams to review, update, and develop
the sales plan in the effort to meet the long term strategic plan of the Company
- To direct sales operation activities to achieve the targeted sales volume, sales value, gross margin within the expenses budget. Resp. Resp.
- To work closely with the marketing, supply chain & manufacturing teams to ensure timely products development and product launches meeting the changing market demand
- To ensure the timely debt collection from customers and to continuously assess and minimize the risks of credits in order to control debtors (working capital) within budget
- To provide the industry insights and sales volume forecast on a rolling basis as an input for operations and planning
- Working together with the HR function to recruit, develop, motivate, appraise subordinates staff in order to effectively service the customers and to ensure a planned organizational succession
- To provide strategic direction to the Sales Director Retail and President Director so that the business development and growth can be met based on the changing market and environment of the business.
- Abreast of regulation concern with SHE
Iv. Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Social/Economics/Architecture/Engineering.
- Experience: Have at least 5 years of sales management exposures, preferably having exposures in the building materials / consumer goods industry, and having good knowledge of basic finance.
- Mature leadership and personality combined with good business sense and people-management skill.

V. NATURE AND SCOPE
The Company markets a variety of bathroom sanitary-ware and accessories. Most of the
retailers are Chinese traders. For the project business is mostly to developers, contractors and property owners. As information available in the Indonesian market is very minimal, data will be collected from market research both to be done internally and externally, internal company information, as well as the published data.
The job holder is one of the five managers/directors reporting directly to the President Director.
The job holder directs and controls the Sales, Customer Service and After Sales Support
departments. Subordinates to this position are the Retail Sales Manager, Project Sales
Manager, Customers Service Coordinator, After Sales Support Coordinator and Demand
Planner.
The jobholder is responsible for sales planning and together with the support from the
Finance department responsible for ensuring suitable control systems are applied in the sales
operations.
The jobholder is required to review and update the business plan to ensure the
achievement of the long term strategic plan of the Company. Sales volume (market
share and area coverage), sales value, gross margin, and expenditures are the key
monitored parameters and are estimated on an annual basis with 3 years projection. The
jobholder organizes (including recruitment and training by working together with the HR
department), directs, and controls the sales, customer service and after sales support
teams to achieve this. Within the agreed budget, the jobholder makes decisions on
pricing and together with the Marketing Manager to do resource allocation (sales
campaign and promotion, publicity, etc.), The product/market needs are inputs for the
Manufacturing Director to develop the product development plan.
The Challenges For The Jobholder Are
- Unavailability of reliable statistics/market data makes the collection and analysis of
the available information from the market combined with historical data as key factors for
decision making.
- The weak enforcement of the law and trading with customers which are not backed
by sufficient bank guarantee/collateral need a good judgment of credit risk assessment
combined with business sense.
- Advertising is very expensive and the media mix is complex. Hence the right
allocation of the fund for direct sales campaigns is the key.
- Customer Relation and Approach are important factors of doing business in the country.
