LNG Tank Engineering Manager responsible to oversee the development of Front End Loaded (FEL) Basis of Design, Engineering documents including but not limited to project scope, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, site layout plans, cost estimates, permit approval preparation and HAZID and HAZOP risk assessments. The work will be executed by an LNG Industry consultant whose core competency includes large-scale LNG storage tanks.
This role is that of Subject Matter Expert (SME) and crucial in ensuring the FEL documentation meets all applicable API and international standards, providing a solid foundation for the subsequent EPC contract bid. The project involves a reinforced concrete outer tank with a 9% nickel inner tank, integrated with existing facility infrastructure, and requires expertise in all civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation aspects.
Some of your duties will include:
Consultant Management:
- Directly manage and oversee the consultant&aposs preparation of FEL, ensuring adherence to project requirements, applicable codes & standards and timelines.
- Review and approve all engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the consultants, project team, and stakeholders.
Technical Oversight:
- Ensure the FEL complies with all relevant API standards (API 620, API 625, etc.), EN 14730 (design and testing of cryogenic storage tanks), and other applicable international standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
- Provide expert technical guidance on the design, construction, and operation of reinforced concrete LNG tanks and associated accoutrements.
- Oversee the integration of Mechanical Electrical Instrumentation (MEI) systems, ensuring compatibility with existing facility infrastructure.
- Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) planning, management and control for the interface between the tank construction and the existing facilities.
- Ensure that all safety aspects of the design are incorporated into the FEL documentation.
Quality Assurance:
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the FEL documentation.
- Conduct thorough reviews and audits of engineering deliverables to identify and resolve potential issues.
- Ensure all documentation is properly organized and readily accessible.
Project Support:
- Provide technical support during the EPC contract bid process, including responding to bidder inquiries and clarifying technical requirements.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and budgets.
- Identify and mitigate potential technical risks.
- Contribute to the HAZOP and SIL studies.
What skills and experience do you need
- Bachelors degree in mechanical or civil engineering or related field (Master&aposs degree preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in LNG tank engineering, with a proven track record of managing large-scale projects, particularly experience in Middle East and APAC Region.
- Extensive knowledge of API 620, API 625, EN 14730, and other relevant international standards.
- Strong understanding of reinforced concrete and 9% nickel tank construction.
- Expertise in MEI systems for LNG storage facilities.
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of safety regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address project challenges in real-time.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Experience working with international consultants is desirable.
- Office-based in Jakarta, Indonesia, with high traveling frequency to project site in Sumbawa and consultant offices may be required.
