About the Role

As a Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance and mitigating risks across the companys business activities. You will draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents while providing guidance on intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance.

What Youll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents to protect company interests while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes impacting the industry and provide clear, transparent legal guidance to support sound decision-making.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs, ensuring alignment with laws, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Advise on employment-related matters with sensitivity and understanding, including contract drafting, workplace issues, and labor law compliance.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel on disputes and provide support in litigation when required.
  • Participate in due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, and fundraising, assessing legal risks and liabilities.
  • Communicate legal risks and advice to executives, department heads, and employees in a way that is clear, accessible, and empathetic.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emerging legal issues, demonstrating adaptability and agility in dynamic business contexts.

What Youll Need (Requirements):

  • A bachelors degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business, or related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or startup environment.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and business law, intellectual property, employment law, and contract law.
  • Familiarity with startup dynamics and the legal challenges specific to such environments.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal matters with clarity and empathy.
  • Proven negotiation skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Payment Service Provider (PJP) compliance and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working in fintech under Bank Indonesia (BI) supervision is highly desirable.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience drafting and reviewing data protection and privacy policies for internal and external use.
  • Legal and compliance experience in the lending services sector.
