We are pleased to be partnering a fast-growing energy generation facilities client to appoint a Plant Operations Manager into their Indonesia team. As Indonesia is one of their strongest performing markets, they are seeking a dynamic, strategic and seasoned lead to assume full accountability for the sites&apos end-to-end operations and performance. This position will be based in Indonesia (East Java).
Job Description
Fundamentally, you will be the driving force behind the client&aposs operational excellence, leading a multidisciplinary team and owning the P&L for plant operations.
- Plant Performance & Operations: Oversee all daily operations and maintenance (O&M) activities - particularly through the use of boiler systems - to achieve optimal energy production, equipment availability, and compliance with all production targets. Lead root cause analyses and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strategic Fuel Sourcing & Procurement: Develop and execute short and long-term fuel procurement strategies. Manage vendor and supplier relationships, lead complex contract negotiations, and mitigate supply risk by monitoring market trends and commodity prices.
- Logistics & Inventory Management: Optimize the end-to-end logistics chain, including transportation, handling, and storage of fuels and byproducts. Implement systems for real-time inventory visibility and ensure cost-effective, reliable, and compliant freight operations.
- Safety, Health & Environment (HSE): Champion a world-class safety culture. Ensure full compliance with all environmental permits, OSHA standards, and corporate HSE policies across all operations.
- Maintenance & Reliability: Oversee the implementation of advanced maintenance programs (preventive, predictive, corrective) and asset integrity management systems to maximize plant reliability.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, grid operators, local authorities, and community representatives.
The Successful Candidate
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in power plant operations, with at least 5 years in a senior role overseeing plant performance, maintenance, and strategy.
- Proven, hands-on experience managing the full operations of thermal or renewable energy plants (e.g., biomass, waste-to-energy, coal, or hybrid systems) is essential.
- Extensive expertise in end-to-end fuel supply chain management, including sourcing, negotiation, logistics, and inventory control for bulk commodities.
- A strong technical background in O&M, asset performance optimization, and rigorous compliance with HSE and environmental standards.
- Demonstrated success in leading, developing, and inspiring multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, technicians, and operators.
- Strong financial acumen with a proven track record of managing multi-million dollar budgets and delivering on cost optimization and KPI targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with experience interfacing with senior management, regulators, and external partners.
- Familiarity with digital plant tools (SCADA, CMMS, ERP systems) and performance analytics is highly desirable.
