Utility Engineer

Job Purpose

To ensure all utility systems and supporting equipment operate efficiently, safely, and reliably through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Specification

1. Perform preventive maintenance for utility and supporting equipment such as incinerator, forklift, generator (genset), air compressor, pumps, and electrical panels.
2. Conduct routine inspections to ensure all utility systems operate properly and safely.
3. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime.
4. Monitor utility performance (power supply, compressed air, waste system) to ensure stable operation.
5. Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities and repair records.
6. Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety and environmental regulations.
7. Coordinate with vendors or contractors when major repairs are required.
8. Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.

Job Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree (S1) or Diploma (D3) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
2. Minimum 35 years of experience in utility maintenance within a manufacturing environment (preferably woodframe or heavy industry).
3. Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and troubleshooting techniques.
4. Familiar with utility and supporting equipment such as:

• Incinerator systems
• Forklifts (diesel/electric)
• Generators (genset)
• Air compressors
• Electrical panels and distribution systems
• Pumps and supporting mechanical systems

1. Understanding of safety standards and industrial compliance regulations.
2. Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
3. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and preventive maintenance planning is an advantage.
5. Willing to work in shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns if required.
6. Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
