Purpose of this role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior UI/UX Designer to join our dynamic product teams. This pivotal role is responsible for shaping the user experience and interface of our complex cybersecurity, cloud, and AI products, ensuring they are exceptionally intuitive, trustworthy, and effective for a diverse global user base. Designing for AI, cybersecurity, and cloud is inherently challenging, often involving ambiguous workflows, endless interface options, and systems that adapt, predict, or make decisions. Your role will be crucial in helping users feel confident and in control when interacting with inherently complex and sometimes unpredictable technologies. You will act as a translator between advanced, 'smart' technology and users who need to feel empowered, not overwhelmed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Design Approach: Collaborate closely with engineers (to understand technical constraints and possibilities), product managers (to align with business cases and goals), and customer success teams (to gather real-world pain points). Adopt a user-centered design (UCD) philosophy and a clear design approach, starting by mapping out key use cases and focusing on the user&aposs ultimate goals rather than just technical features.
- Intuitive Interface & Experience Design: Design visually appealing and highly functional UI elements applying principles of layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
- Simplify complex information through effective visualization and summarization, and use clear, concise language in all interface elements to reduce cognitive load.
- Prioritize consistency, clarity, and timely feedback in all interface designs to enhance user efficiency and effectiveness.
- Address the unique challenges of AI UX, such as designing suggestions that are helpful but not invasive, and creating experiences that build trust when the system might 'get it wrong'.
- Focus on security usability, ensuring security features are not 'bolted on' but are inherently usable and 'do the right thing' by default, minimizing unnecessary warnings that users are conditioned to ignore.
- Design using activity-based planning, presenting security features in terms of user goals (e.g., 'I want my data kept private') rather than technical jargon (e.g., 'X.509 certificate').
- Prototyping & Iteration: Utilize industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD to create low-fidelity wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups. Continuously refine designs based on user feedback and iterative testing.
- Usability Testing & Optimization: Plan and execute rigorous usability tests (including moderated sessions and think-aloud protocols) to identify usability issues and measure user performance. Analyse results using key UX metrics such as Task Success Rate, Time on Task, Observed Confusion/Frustration, as well as strategic UX KPIs like Retention Rate and Feature Adoption. Optimize user experiences based on data analytics and user behaviour insights.
- Collaboration & Handoff: Work seamlessly with developers and other stakeholders to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented accurately. Create comprehensive design documentation, style guides, and design systems to facilitate smooth developer handoff.
- Industry Trends & Ethics: Stay aware of the latest UI/UX trends, particularly in AI and Machine Learning integration, voice/conversational interfaces, augmented/virtual reality, and accessibility/inclusive design. Apply ethical considerations in design, focusing on privacy, inclusivity, and avoiding manipulative practices ('dark patterns').
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a strong portfolio showcasing work on complex digital products. Prior experience in cybersecurity, cloud platforms, or AI-driven product design is highly desirable.
- Design Tool Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in UI/UX design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and InVision.
- UX Research & Analytics Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in user research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative techniques, and the ability to conduct usability testing and data analysis to inform design decisions.
- Design Principles & Thinking: A strong understanding of User-Centered Design (UCD) principles, Design Thinking, and Agile methodologies.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional creative problem-solving abilities to navigate ambiguous workflows and translate complex technical concepts into intuitive user experiences.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and present design rationale to stakeholders.
- Technical Acumen: Foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a significant advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in applying Human Factors Engineering (HFE) principles to complex systems.
- Demonstrated ability to design for conversational interfaces or AR/VR environments.
- Background in software engineering or a Master&aposs degree in Computer Applications with a focus on UI/UX.
