JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for ensuring assigned LNG vessels are maintained in optimal operational readiness by managing comprehensive technical maintenance and monitoring both marine engineering and LNG cargo systems.
This role involves planning, coordinating, and analyzing all maintenance activities, including cargo containment systems, LNG handling equipment, and propulsion systems, during operations and dry docking to ensure compliance with company standards, international regulations, and safety requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement planned maintenance systems (PMS) for LNG vessels, including cargo handling systems, cryogenic equipment, and propulsion units
- Plan and coordinate dry docking schedules, ensuring all LNG-specific inspections and repairs are completed effectively
- Supervise and coordinate vessel maintenance and repair activities based on daily, monthly, and annual plans
- Conduct technical evaluations and condition assessments of LNG cargo systems (e.g., tanks, reliquefaction systems, vapor handling systems) and recommend appropriate corrective actions
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to ensure reliability and efficiency of vessel operations
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (IMO, IGC Code, ISM Code) and company safety standards
- Review and control maintenance reports, documentation, and logs to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide technical guidance and evaluation for vessel crews, especially in engine room and LNG cargo operations
- Assess crew competencies and recommend training programs related to LNG operations and safety
- Drive continuous improvement in maintenance procedures, safety practices, and operational efficiency
REQUIREMENTS
- Certified Ahli Teknika Tingkat 1 (ATT-1)
- Minimum 3 contracts as Chief Engineer on LNG/LPG/Gas Carriers (LNG experience is highly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of LNG vessel operations, including cargo handling systems and safety protocols
- Familiar with dry docking processes and maintenance planning for LNG vessels
- Good understanding of international maritime regulations (IMO, IGC Code, ISM Code)
- Experience with planned maintenance systems (PMS) and vessel performance monitoring
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Proven leadership skills with ability to manage and collaborate with multicultural teams
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to work under pressure
- Willing to travel frequently and attend vessel inspections
