Position: Senior Project Manager / Project Leader – Data Centres
Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
Salary: US$15,000 – US$17,000 net per month
The Opportunity
Our client who are a leading international construction and infrastructure business is expanding its Data Centre portfolio across Southeast Asia and is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Project Leader to join its established Indonesian operation.
Based in Jakarta, this is an exciting opportunity for a strong project leader to take responsibility for the delivery of major Data Centre projects while also becoming involved in client management, tendering, work-winning and wider business development activity.
The successful candidate will initially be based in Indonesia but should be comfortable supporting projects across Southeast Asia, including potential assignments in Thailand, Malaysia and other regional markets.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced construction professional with a strong general building background and some Data Centre experience who is looking to take the next step in their career and develop towards a Project Director position.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned Data Centre projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Lead project teams across planning, commercial, design, construction, commissioning and handover.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, resources, quality and HSE requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for the client, developing strong and trusted relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with predominantly international clients and ensure project delivery aligns with their requirements and expectations.
- Provide strong leadership to internal teams, consultants, subcontractors and supply-chain partners.
- Coordinate Design & Build project delivery, ensuring design development and construction activities remain aligned.
- Support the mobilisation and management of project teams across Southeast Asia when required.
- Contribute to tendering, work-winning and business development activities, working alongside an established specialist work-winning team.
- Assist with bid strategy, methodology development, client presentations and tender submissions.
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, commercial performance and client relationships.
- Work collaboratively with the wider regional business to support new opportunities and strengthen the company's Data Centre offering.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contractual, technical, quality and safety requirements.
- Oversee project commissioning and handover activities, working closely with internal commissioning teams.
- Develop and mentor project team members, contributing to the long-term development of the regional Data Centre business.
Project Environment
The business delivers Design & Build Data Centre projects, typically in the region of 30MW, providing candidates with the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle.
The Indonesian operation is well established, with significant local resources including:
- Large project delivery teams
- Extensive plant and equipment capabilities
- Manufacturing / DFMA capabilities
- Significant local labour resources
- Strong direct-delivery capability alongside specialist subcontractors
- In-house commissioning capability
The business operates a balanced delivery model, combining directly employed resources with specialist subcontractors.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a credible and confident project leader with a strong construction background and experience delivering complex building projects.
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Project Leader within construction.
- Strong general building / main contracting background.
- Approximately 2–3+ years of Data Centre experience, ideally within a contractor or Design & Build environment.
- Experience managing complex projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience working with international clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to contribute to tendering, work-winning or business development activities.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Comfortable operating within a multicultural environment.
- Willingness to travel and work across Southeast Asia when required.
- Fluent English communication skills.
Desirable:
- Experience delivering hyperscale or large-scale Data Centre projects.
- Previous experience working in Southeast Asia.
- Experience working with US-based or other international hyperscale clients.
- Design & Build project experience.
- Previous involvement in bids, tenders or work-winning.
- Experience working within a regional or multinational construction organisation.

- The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a high level ofcultural awareness and adaptability.
- This role involves working within Indonesia and potentially across wider Southeast Asia, meaning the ability to understand and respect local customs, cultures, religions and ways of working is essential.
- The business is looking for someone who is empathetic, adaptable and collaborative, rather than someone who simply applies a home-market approach to project delivery.
- No Indonesian or other local language skills are required. The organisation's client relationships are predominantly conducted in English, with many customers being international / US-based organisations.
Career Progression
This position offers a clear long-term progression route towards Project Director.
The intention is to bring someone into the business at Senior Project Manager / Project Leader level, allowing them to build an understanding of the Indonesian operation, local market and wider Southeast Asian business before progressing into a Project Director position.

Package
- Salary: US$15,000 – US$17,000 net per month
- Annual bonus: Typically, 2–3 months salary
