SAP Basis Administrator isresponsible for the installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, and maintenance of the entire SAP technical landscape. They ensure system availability, performance optimization, database management (e.g., SAP HANA), user administration, and security, acting as the foundation for all SAP applications.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration:Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, patches, kernel updates, and troubleshooting for SAP systems like ERP, CRM, and S/4HANA.
- Installation & Upgrades:Install, configure, and upgrade SAP software and databases.
- Performance Tuning:Monitor SAP systems for optimal performance, including workload balancing, database optimization, and system parameter adjustments.
- Transport Management:Manage the SAP transport system and transport requests, ensuring smooth migration of data and application configurations across environments.
- User Administration:Manage SAP user roles, profiles, and authorizations, ensuring secure access to modules.
- Backup & Recovery:Develop, test, and execute database and system backups for disaster recovery.
- Technical Support & Documentation:Collaborate with functional teams to solve technical issues and maintain documentation of system procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience:Proven experience as a SAP Basis Administrator, often with 35+ years in technical support.
- Technical Expertise:Strong knowledge of SAP NetWeaver, SAP HANA database management, and operating systems like Linux or AIX.
- Skills:Proficiency in system refreshes, system copies, and transport management.
- Soft Skills:Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication.
- Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
