Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to join our FEED and EPC project team. The successful candidate will assist process safety engineering activities during FEED, detailed design, and execution phases, ensuring high technical quality and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, facilitate, and document all process safety reviews: HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and SIL Classification/Verification.
- Perform detailed process calculations (hydraulic, thermodynamic, equipment sizing, etc.).
- Develop and own safety critical deliverables: Safety Philosophies, Safety Design Basis, Fire & Gas Detection Philosophies, and QRA studies
- Perform consequence modeling (dispersion, fire, explosion) and relief system/flare network design & analysis.
- Review and approve PFDs & P&IDs from a process safety and inherently safer design perspective.
- Specify Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) and develop Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS).
- Act as the technical point of contact for all process safety matters with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
- Support technical audits, safety audits, and design reviews, providing expert judgment on risk tolerance.
- Support construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning by resolving safety-related field queries and ensuring design intent is met.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. Master's degree or relevant safety certifications (e.g., TV Functional Safety, CFSP) are a plus.
- 8-10 years of relevant process safety engineering experience within an EPC, engineering consultancy, or design firm.
- Proven experience applying HAZOP/LOPA/SIL methodologies during FEED and Detailed Engineering for industrial projects.
- Hands-on proficiency with process safety and consequence modeling software (PHAST, FRED, ALOHA, or equivalent).
- Familiar with international standards (API, ASME, NFPA, IEC, etc.).
- Excellent technical writing skills for creating clear safety documentation and communication skills for leading workshops.
- Experience in high-hazard sectors: Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Chemicals.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination focused on risk mitigation and safety-in-design.
- Field experience during construction/commissioning is an advantage.
- Willing to be placed at the Head Office, client sites, and overseas assignments.
