Job Overview:

The Coating QC Lead provides expert-level interpretation of coating specifications, industry codes, and client requirements. The role involves solving complex coatingrelated issues, supporting multiple projects simultaneously, and working independently with minimal supervision. The Coating QC Lead leads and coordinates Coating QC Inspectors ensures compliance with project and yard standards, and fosters a proactive quality culture in the coating discipline.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Quality Oversight & Reporting
    • Report all coating-related quality issues, risks, and nonconformances to PMT and the Yard Quality Manager across all active projects.
    • Ensure the implementation and continual improvement of coatingrelated elements within Project Quality Plans and yard quality procedures.
    • Prepare and review Coating Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and Work Instructions applicable to coating works.
  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead and supervise Coating QC Inspectors working across the yard, ensuring daily coordination, workload allocation, and consistent inspection practice.
    • Ensure all inspectors and production personnel understand coating specifications, acceptance criteria, and project requirements.
  • Technical Expertise & Code Interpretation
    • Provide authoritative interpretation of coating standards, project specifications, manufacturer data sheets (MDS), and client requirements.
    • Manage technical queries, deviations, clarifications, and waivers through the Site Query System with proper documentation and communication.
  • Coordination & Interface
    • Coordinate with Operations, Production, Engineering, Certifying Authorities, Clients, and subcontractors to ensure coating activities comply with specifications.
    • Facilitate resolution of coating quality issues through proactive engagement with production and management teams.
  • Safety, Quality & Compliance
    • Promote high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and Code of Business Conduct compliance within all coating operations.
    • Ensure all coating processes (surface preparation, environmental condition control, coating application, curing, DFT measurement, etc.) comply with applicable standards.
  • Continuous Improvement & Planning
    • Initiate proactive coating quality planning, including readiness checks, mockups, qualification tests, and preventive measures to ensure firsttimeright execution.
    • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for coatingrelated NCRs.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials, Corrosion, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of coating/painting quality experience in fabrication, construction, offshore, or related industries.
  • Expert knowledge of international coating standards such as ISO 12944, SSPC/NACE/AMPP standards, ASTM, ISO 85018503, and relevant project specifications.
  • Certification(s) such as NACE/AMPP Coating Inspector Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent FROSIO Level 3) preferred.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
