Job Description

Main Job:

The Primary Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and production machinery within the tobacco manufacturing facility. This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, optimizing machine performance, and supporting production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance and troubleshooting activities for primary tobacco processing equipment (e.g., tobacco preparation, conditioning, blending, cutting, and drying systems).
  • Ensure all mechanical systems operate efficiently to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Analyze mechanical failures and implement root cause corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, and EHS departments to ensure operational excellence.
  • Monitor machine performance and recommend upgrades or modifications to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
  • Supervise and mentor maintenance technicians and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new machinery or production lines.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 58 years of experience in mechanical engineering within manufacturing industries.
  • Preferably experienced in tobacco, FMCG, cigarette manufacturing, or high-speed production environments.
  • Experience handling primary tobacco processing machinery is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, conveyors, compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance systems (TPM, CMMS).
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
  • Understanding of GMP and safety standards in manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Good experience in computer and data reporting.
  • Willing to work in shifts if required.
  • Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
