Main Job:
The Primary Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and production machinery within the tobacco manufacturing facility. This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime, optimizing machine performance, and supporting production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead maintenance and troubleshooting activities for primary tobacco processing equipment (e.g., tobacco preparation, conditioning, blending, cutting, and drying systems).
- Ensure all mechanical systems operate efficiently to meet production targets and quality standards.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Analyze mechanical failures and implement root cause corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and EHS departments to ensure operational excellence.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend upgrades or modifications to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
- Supervise and mentor maintenance technicians and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new machinery or production lines.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 58 years of experience in mechanical engineering within manufacturing industries.
- Preferably experienced in tobacco, FMCG, cigarette manufacturing, or high-speed production environments.
- Experience handling primary tobacco processing machinery is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, conveyors, compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance systems (TPM, CMMS).
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
- Understanding of GMP and safety standards in manufacturing.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Good experience in computer and data reporting.
- Willing to work in shifts if required.
- Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
