Job Description

POSITION INTRODUCTORY:

Responsible for leading and coordinating the planning function to ensure effective and efficient production schedules, optimal material availability, and inventory control. This role supports the overall manufacturing operations by balancing customer demand with production and supply chain capabilities to ensure timely product delivery and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and capacity constraints.
  • Translate forecasts and sales orders into weekly/daily production schedules.
  • Coordinate closely with the production team to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Reschedule or adjust plans based on machine breakdowns, material shortages, or quality issues.

2. Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

  • Analyse Bill of Materials (BOM) and run MRP to determine material needs.
  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials and components for production.
  • Collaborate with procurement to align material supply with production plans.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and expected delivery dates.

3. Capacity Planning

  • Assess production capacity (manpower, machines, shifts) against demand.
  • Identify bottlenecks or underutilization and propose corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and production to plan for downtime or upgrades.

4. Inventory Management

  • Monitor and control raw materials, WIP (Work in Progress), and finished goods inventory.
  • Optimize inventory levels to prevent both stockouts and overstocking.
  • Work closely with warehouse and supply chain to ensure accurate stock tracking.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Serve as a key link between departments: Production, Procurement, Sales, Warehouse, and QA.
  • Participate in daily/weekly production meetings and communicate planning updates.
  • Resolve conflicts between production constraints and customer requirements.

6. Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Track planning KPIs: Plan vs. Actual, Schedule Adherence, OTIF, etc.
  • Generate reports on material consumption, production performance, and forecast accuracy.

7. Team Supervision

  • Lead a team of planners/schedulers and assign responsibilities.
  • Train and mentor team members on systems and planning techniques.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure alignment with company goals.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in planning or supply chain functions in a manufacturing environment in Executive or Manager level
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Excel mastery is a must
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
  • Strong leadership and independent problem-solving abilities
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
