Job Description

This role is established to ensure the secure, reliable, and high-performance operation of NSBI's Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure and Level 3 (MES) systems through the integration of automation engineering, SCADA (Level 2), MES (Level 3), and OT cybersecurity practices.

The position strengthens operational stability, data integrity, and cybersecurity posture by designing, maintaining, and continuously improving automation systems, OT networks, and digital manufacturing platforms.

By enabling strong integration across Level 2, Level 3, and OT network architecture, this role supports production optimization, system resilience, secure connectivity, and data-driven decision-making throughout NSBI operations.

Responsibilities

Mandatory objectives (Applied for all employees): Implement and comply with Occupational Health Safety & Environment (OHSE) Policy, Quality & Environmental Management System, BSL Policy, Code of Conduct (How We Work), Collective Labour Agreement (CLA) and Government Regulations.

Safety & Compliance

  • Implement and comply with NSBI OHSE policies, OT cybersecurity standards, engineering standards, and government regulations.
  • Ensure safe execution of automation, MES, and OT network activities.
  • Enforce Zero Harm principles in all automation and network-related work

Automation & Level 2 (SCADA) Management

  • Maintain, support, and improve SCADA (Level 2) systems to ensure 99% availability.
  • Develop and modify PLC, SCADA, HMI, and control logic as required.
  • Perform troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for automation failures.
  • Maintain system backups, version control, and change management (MOCA)

Level 3 (MES) System Management

  • Sustain and enhance MES (AspenTech) platform performance and stability (99% uptime).
  • Ensure integrity of production orders, material tracking, quality, and consumption data.
  • Lead MES configuration, workflow improvements, and L2L3 integration enhancements.
  • Support digitalization and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

OT Network & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Maintain and secure OT network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, VLANs, servers, virtualization (VMware), and backup systems.
  • Design and implement secure IT/OT segmentation, DMZ architecture, and firewall policies.
  • Eliminate multihomed devices and enforce secure data flow practices.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments, system hardening, and patch management.

Project & CAPEX Execution

  • Execute automation, MES, and OT network-related CAPEX projects within scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Lead or support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and go-live activities.
  • Ensure cybersecurity and network architecture requirements are embedded in all digital projects.
  • Develop and review URS, FDS, system architecture, and integration documentation.

Documentation & Governance

  • Maintain updated network diagrams, control system architecture, backups, change logs, and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure full compliance with procurement, tendering, ABAC, and governance processes.
  • Enforce 100% MOCA compliance for any automation or OT network modification

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Coordinate with corporate cybersecurity and regional OT teams for incident response and threat monitoring.
  • Implement role-based access control (RBAC), password management, and asset security controls.
  • Support compliance with IEC 62443, corporate cybersecurity policies, and internal audit requirements.
  • Monitor risk indicators and ensure remediation tracking

Qualification And/or Experience Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, IT, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in automation, SCADA, MES, or OT network engineering
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • PLC (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.)
  • SCADA platforms (Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC, FactoryTalk, etc.)
  • MES systems (preferably AspenTech)
  • Cisco networking (routing, switching, VLAN, firewall)
  • Windows Server & VMware administration
  • Backup & restoration system
  • Strong understanding of IT/OT segmentation and cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Experience in industrial/manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualification And/or Experience Required

  • Familiarity with IEC 62443 and ISA-95
  • Certification (CCNA, Security+, VMware, Microsoft, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SQL, historian systems, and data integration
  • Exposure to Industry 4.0 and digitalization initiative
  • Strong automation engineering fundamentals (PLC, SCADA, MES)
  • Deep understanding of OT network architecture and security controls
  • Ability to design system architecture (L1L3 integration)
  • Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, MQTT)
  • Understanding of virtualization, server hardening, and patch management
