About The Role
We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Mechanical Electrical Designer to support the design and development of innovative retail display systems, interactive kiosks, digital signage, and custom fixtures. This hybrid role combines mechanical and electrical design responsibilities to create integrated solutions that are functional, manufacturable, and visually aligned with brand standards. Ideal candidates will have experience working in fast-paced retail environments and designing for high-volume production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical and electrical components for retail fixtures, interactive displays, kiosks, and digital signage systems.
- Develop 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Design electrical layouts, wiring harnesses, and component placements using tools like AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
- Select suitable electrical components such as power supplies, LEDs, fans, sensors, and embedded systems.
- Ensure designs are production-ready and optimized for cost, safety, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with marketing, visual merchandising, fabrication vendors, and installation teams.
- Participate in prototype builds and provide engineering support through testing and rollout.
- Maintain documentation including BOMs, schematics, assembly instructions, and revision history.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and safety standards (UL, CE, NEC).
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in electromechanical product design, preferably in a retail or commercial display environment.
- Proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD) and ECAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar).
- Knowledge of materials (metal, plastics, wood, acrylic) and production methods (sheet metal fabrication, CNC, injection molding).
- Understanding of electrical integration, wiring practices, and low-voltage systems.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work cross-functionally in a deadline-driven setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with LED lighting systems, audio/visual integration, or touch-interactive technologies.
- Familiarity with digital signage hardware and integration (media players, displays, IoT components).
- Experience working with external fabricators and installation contractors.
- Understanding of retail safety and accessibility standards.
