Job Description

Marine Warranty Surveyor - Jakarta, Indonesia (1-3 years exp.)

This is a brand new role for our client and a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a young engineer to move into the MWS corner of the global marine market! This role is perfectly suited for a post-graduate Naval Architect / Marine Engineer / Marine Civil Engineer / Geo or Structural Engineer, with one or two years of professional (marine project based) experience on their CV.

There will be plenty of development and training for this role, and it will allow for this person to be heavily involved all areas of the supply chain, brushing up alongside the classifications and international industry standard-setters. Nonetheless, our client encourages a self-directed approach to workload management, with individuals expected to prioritise tasks using their professional judgement, while responding to immediate and often changing business needs and conflicting deadlines.

As such, the following job description provides a broad guideline of the responsibilities typically expected in this role:

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake jack-up engineering activities, including site-specific assessments, punch-through assessments, modifications and upgrades, and fatigue analysis
  • Carry out naval architecture and structural analysis and reviews of typical marine operations, such as load-outs, mooring, transportation and installation of fixed platforms, floating vessels, wind farm structures, pipelines and subsea structures
  • Attend site to approve marine operations, conduct vessel structural and suitability surveys, and support risk assessments
  • Produce comprehensive and detailed technical reports and undertake document reviews
  • Liaise with clients to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables and a high level of customer satisfaction

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

  • MEng or MSc in a relevant discipline, or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent industry experience
  • Ideally 13 years experience in offshore engineering, working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
  • Strong analytical skills, with working knowledge of a range of engineering analysis tools
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills

Role Competencies

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, in both office and site environments
  • Communicates clearly, effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Efficiently identifies critical engineering paths to resolve complex technical challenges
  • Applies basic project management principles when managing small projects
  • Demonstrates commercial awareness when managing projects and within their own role

This role is based in Jakarta and our client are not prepared to sponsor profiles from overseas for this role, given its lack of seniority level.

We look forward to receiving your application!
