Job Description

Job Summary

The Lab Assistant provides routine laboratory support by performing basic physical and chemical analyses to evaluate the composition, nutritional value, and integrity of feed ingredients and finished products. The role ensures that laboratory testing, sample preparation, and equipment maintenance are conducted in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safety regulations, while maintaining accurate documentation and a well-organized laboratory environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform basic physical and wet chemical analyses on feed ingredients and finished products.
  • Assist the Chemical Analyst in sample preparation and chemical reagent mixing.
  • Support the operation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Conduct routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and proper organization of the laboratory workspace.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and laboratory waste.
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and comply with regulatory requirements, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and quality standards.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and other laboratory quality assurance activities.
  • Accurately record and input laboratory test results into reports and laboratory documentation systems.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably within the food or feed manufacturing industry.
  • Familiar with laboratory instruments and equipment used for chemical analysis and material characterization.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing analytical procedures and documenting results.
  • Good understanding of laboratory SOPs, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
