Africa Global Logistics (AGL), a global logistics leader under the MSC Group, is strengthening its Maritime Solutions division in Indonesia and is looking for an experienced Shipping Manager to lead our shipping agency and consignment operations in-country.

Your Mission
You will supervise the full activity of client shipping companies across the country, maintain and develop shipowner relationships, and lead all departments under your responsibility. You will be the operational and commercial anchor of our maritime agency and consignment business driving performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the Maritime Director in the execution of the division's strategic objectives.
What you will do
Management & Business Development
Lead your team's compliance with QHSE rules and internal standards
Drive the achievement of strategic and operational objectives in collaboration with the Maritime Director
Define and negotiate the departmental budget for each activity and service under your responsibility
Produce monthly activity reports for the Maritime Director
Evaluate suppliers and service providers
Identify and propose actions to acquire new clients and improve performance
Maintain and develop relationships with client shipping companies, charterers and all key stakeholders
Meet regularly with customers to inform them of opportunities and ensure their requirements are met
Ensure full compliance with applicable legislation and regulations in shipping agency and consignment
Client Relations & Shipping Agency Operations
Define, in agreement with shipowners and the Maritime Directorate, the commercial actions needed to grow the agency's customer portfolio
Manage tariffs, quotations and credit deadlines for freight, demurrage and call account invoicing
Plan and carry out regular visits to shipowner clients
Vessel Call Management
Plan and execute all commercial operations at the ship's port of call
Manage all post-call operations to completion
Documentation & Equipment
Supervise import and export documentation preparation
Monitor and act on empty container parking times
Sign Bills of Lading and cargo release orders (containers, rolling cargo, conventional) on behalf of the Principal
Invoicing & Credit Management
Invoice stopover accounts (proforma, supplier invoices, agency services, shipowner account)
Supervise daily invoicing and lead regular committee reviews (Disbursement, Credit Control, AR/AP)
Monitor demurrage & detention, freight, local charges, taxes and all collectible items
Ensure smooth monthly statements of account
Settle monthly reconciliations between the principal and agent system accounts
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
Process customer complaints and invoice disputes
Handle any litigation arising from shipping agency and consignment activities
Other
Drive continuous improvement of principal, shipowner and charterer satisfaction
Participate in investment studies in Handling and/or Agency
Contribute to the implementation of new projects and investments within the division
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, or related field
Compulsory: Minimum title of Level III Nautical Expert (ANT-III) or Diploma III in Maritime and Port Management (Diploma III Ketatalaksanaan Angkutan Laut dan Kepelabuhanan or KALK) or Sea Transportation with a competency and/or expertise in ship agency service sector as evidenced by a certificate
Minimum 10 years of experience in the maritime sector
Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
Entrepreneurial temperament with a strong sense of performance and profitability
Capacity to train, develop and optimise a team
Good vision across both business development and operations

Proficiency in booking systems, carrier portals, and Microsoft Office.
