Position Summary
Acts as the primary technical owner for the grease plant, responsible for formulation knowhow, process settings, and technical problemsolving, with a clear mandate to capture and systematise existing tribal knowledge overall end to end production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Shadow the current grease expert to document formulations, process windows, and black book knowhow into structured SOPs, standard recipes, and control plans.
- Own and maintain all grease formulations (base oil, thickener, additive packages), ensuring they are robust, costeffective, and productionfriendly.
- Define and control critical process parameters for each grade (temperatures, mixing speeds, hold times, cooling profiles) and ensure these are reflected in batch sheets and DCS/PLC settings.
- Lead technical troubleshooting for production and quality issues (e.g., soft/hard grease, oil separation, penetration drift, noise, pumpability, rust/EP failures).
- Work with QC/Lab to set test methods, acceptance criteria, and investigation protocols for nonconformances; approve corrective and preventive actions.
- Support new product tweaks and costdowns (additive optimization, alternative raws, consolidation of overlapping formulations) without compromising performance.
- Train production and lab teams on grease fundamentals, product families, and practical why behind procedures so the plant can run reliably without singleperson dependence.
- Provide secondline technical support to Sales/Key Accounts on product selection, failure analysis, and OEM/customer audits.
Qualifications
- Degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 712+ years experience in grease / lubricant formulation and manufacturing, with strong handson exposure to saponification and finishing.
- Deep understanding of base oils, thickeners (lithium, calcium, complex, polyurea etc.), and performance additives used in greases.
- Proven capability in labtoplant scaleup, problemsolving, and working closely with operations and QC.
