Job Purpose
The Category Strategy Team plays a key role within the marketing community by shaping, developing, and executing long-term category strategies, leading innovation management, and steering key initiatives that enable competitive, consistent, and profitable growth. Ensuring plans are sufficient to deliver towards business financial goals while providing brands with inspiration for crafting of future-fit brand strategies.
The role of Assistant Category Strategy Manager is responsible for driving the PC category strategy agenda in Asia, with specific focus on Oral Care and Deos. This role will lead key strategic workstreams that accelerate the delivery of category strategies, working in close partnership with Global Brand Leads, cross functional teams, and Business Units. This is a high visibility role working hand in hand with senior stakeholders, learning from the category leadership team and enabling excellent opportunity to build business fundamentals, develop strategic thinking, creativity and leadership qualities. The successful candidate must demonstrate elevated levels of passion, creativity, an enterprising spirit, paired with strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Category Foresight: supporting category innovation and brand portfolio strategies, by bringing in a cross functional, customer and consumer centric view, across key markets.
- Enables acceleration of future growth spaces by identifying and understanding of key emerging consumer trends and shifting shopping habits in partnership with CMI and CSP.
- Category Strategy: Accelerate future growth spaces experimentation, with opportunity to lead innovation initiatives
- Support in delivering Deos Asia acceleration strategic pillar via portfolio strategy co-creation in partnership with brand leads
- Category Operations: lead end to end the category innovation cycle governance (Oral Care Investor Boards and Category Innovation Forum)
- Owns innovation funnel analysis and reporting monitoring sufficiency of 3-year funnel value with focus on premiumisation, providing input to PC and Category Innovation forums, and senior leadership meetings.
- Ensuring effective management of IB by implementing simplification initiatives.
- Embed AI capabilities to improve innovation team's productivity and investor board decision making.

- Business acumen. Clarity on what drives disproportionate growth and crates value for Unilever brands and our customers, while improving the livelihood of consumers.
- Strong Analytical skills and understanding of P&L, Retail, Consumer and Brand Metrics that matter.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to manage senior stakeholders, and large cross functional teams sitting remotely in multiple time zones
- Strong passion for consumer insights. Ability to see through data trends and patterns, going from detail to big picture setting.
- Excellent project management skills. Must have had experience on managing complex workstreams, and ideally multi-country and cross-regional initiatives.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suit (esp. Powerpoint and Excel) - comfortable to operate with large amount of data.
