About the role

As Category Development Manager, you will act as the internal category and shopper expert, shaping growth strategy across modern retail accounts. The role combines category analytics, in-store strategy, and commercial influence with a strong focus on ensuring trade investment decisions are insight-led, measurable, and aligned to category performance opportunities. You will work closely with senior sales and commercial leaders, translating data into clear strategic recommendations and compelling category narratives for retail partners.

Job description

  • Lead retailer category reviews and performance diagnostics using Nielsen, retailer POS, and distributor data
  • Develop category growth strategy covering assortment, pricing, shelving, and promotional architecture
  • Build data-backed commercial stories to support key account engagements and internal planning
  • Partner with cross-functional commercial leaders including RSM, GT Head, MT Head, and Sales leadership
  • Influence trade spend planning and ensure investment effectiveness through structured ROI tracking
  • Align trade spend and influenced trade investment to category growth drivers and execution priorities
  • Own and track KPIs tied to category growth, trade investment effectiveness, and in-store execution impact
  • Monitor performance trends, evaluate results, and drive ongoing optimization of category initiatives

Requirements

  • Multinational FMCG experience is mandatory
  • 5+ years in category/ channel development, modern trade analytics, or trade marketing roles with direct ownership of numbers and performance analysis
  • Strong proficiency with Nielsen data and retail analytics
  • Ability to turn data into actionable commercial recommendations
  • Strong communication and stakeholder influence, internally and with retail partners
  • In-market retail experience is an advantage
  • Open to any FMCG category background
