About The Role
As a Backend Engineer at Kinsure, you will play a key role in building and scaling the core backend systems of our insurtech platform. You will be responsible for developing secure, reliable, and high-performance services that support insurance operations, data processing, and seamless system integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Co-Founders to design and build a secure, scalable backend architecture.
- Develop and maintain robust JSON-based RESTful APIs to support product features and third-party integrations.
- Ensure high system reliability, data accuracy, and performance optimization.
- Design, manage, and optimize databases (SQL or NoSQL) for transactional and operational insurance data.
- Implement best practices in backend security, authentication, and data protection.
- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system performance.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code aligned with engineering standards.
- Contribute to technical planning and backend roadmap discussions.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and business teams to deliver scalable insurance solutions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer.
- Strong experience building and maintaining JSON-based RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in Node.js, Express.js, or similar.
- Experience with relational or non-relational databases and schema design.
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, system scalability, and performance optimization.
- Understanding of security best practices (authentication, authorization, data encryption).
- Familiar with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
