Agrometeorologist

PT Luwes Inovasi Mandiri

Location: Indonesia

Employment Type: Full-time

Work with Global Weather & Environmental Technology Experts

About the Company

PT Luwes Inovasi Mandiri is an Indonesian technology company engaged in weather monitoring, flood modelling, irrigation automation, geotechnical monitoring, and precision environmental data solutions.

We develop solutions based on IoT, satellite data, weather analytics, and artificial intelligence to support strategic sectors such as plantations, agriculture, mining, ports, and offshore operations.

Currently, PT Luwes Inovasi Mandiri is developing precision weather and soil moisture intelligence services in collaboration with international principal partners such as Spire.com and other global technology partners. These services are designed to support applications in palm oil plantations, agricultural irrigation, mining, and AI-based precision weather services for farming communities.

About the Role

We are looking for an Agrometeorologist with a background in meteorology or agrometeorology, strong analytical skills, and a strong interest in applying weather data, soil moisture analysis, and IoT technology to improve productivity in the agriculture and plantation sectors.

The ideal candidate is someone who can transform weather data, satellite data, and field sensor data into practical operational insights for the company and its clients.

Key Responsibilities

As an Agrometeorologist, you will be responsible for:

  • Processing and analyzing weather data from various sources, including satellite data, weather models, and external data providers.
  • Transforming precision weather data into daily operational recommendations to support plantation activities, particularly fertilization planning, water management, and run-off risk mitigation.
  • Managing analysis of soil moisture, rainfall, evapotranspiration, and Vapour Pressure Deficit/VPD to support precision water management.
  • Developing plantation water balance analysis to help minimize crop stress and maintain productivity.
  • Supporting the implementation and use of wireless soil sensors and IoT devices for real-time field condition monitoring.
  • Processing large datasets into practical insights using tools such as Python, Power BI, or other analytical software.
  • Preparing short-term and long-term climate planning to support risk mitigation for El Niño, La Niña, drought, and extreme rainfall events.
  • Collaborating with international experts, principal partners, and internal teams in the development of AI-based precision weather services.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Agrometeorology, Climatology, Geophysics, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between weather, soil moisture, rainfall, VPD, and crop productivity, particularly in palm oil plantations.
  • Experience in weather management or weather planning in palm oil plantations, agriculture, or irrigation is preferred.
  • Strong ability in numerical analysis, statistical analysis, and environmental data interpretation.
  • Experience working with weather data from external providers, prediction models, satellite data, or IoT-based monitoring systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, Power BI, GIS, or other data analytics tools.
  • Understanding of precision agriculture, water management, remote sensing, and environmental monitoring is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into practical recommendations.
  • Growth mindset, proactive attitude, and willingness to collaborate with internal teams and international experts.
Why Join Us
  • Receive advanced training from university researchers, principal partners, and international technology experts.
  • Work directly on projects involving precision weather, soil moisture intelligence, and environmental data solutions.
  • Take part in the development of nowcasting and precision weather services with global teams from Europe and the United States.
  • Competitive salary based on skills and experience.
  • Innovative work environment with career growth opportunities in climate tech, IoT, and AI-based environmental intelligence.
