Summary
The Company is seeking a Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to join its Brakes Software. This role is responsible for participating in and demonstrating strong skills in verification and validation activities for embedded real-time software systems. The ideal candidate will contribute to the generation of verification artifacts, support software quality and compliance activities, and assist in defect tracking and resolution. Candidates should possess strong technical aptitude, experience with embedded software development and V&V processes, and knowledge of relevant railway software standards and communication protocols.
Responsibilities
- Participate in verification and validation (V&V) activities for embedded real-time software systems.
- Produce and maintain verification artifacts in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Verify source code with adherence to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) railway application standards, where applicable.
- Apply knowledge of the V&V lifecycle and software development lifecycle (SDLC) models.
- Track, manage, and support the closure of defects identified through defect reports and defect tracking systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, verification, validation, and assessment activities.
- Support software quality initiatives and compliance with applicable standards and processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying issues and supporting effective solutions.
Education Requirements- Bachelor&rsquos or master&rsquos degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience Requirements- 2 to 8 years of hands-on experience in embedded real-time software verification and validation activities.
- Experience across the software development lifecycle, including requirements interpretation, design, development, validation, verification, and assessment of embedded software systems.
Required Skills- Strong technical aptitude with effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and Python for embedded application software development and verification activities.
- Knowledge of embedded real-time software development and verification methodologies.
- Understanding international railway software standards, including EN 50128, EN 50657, EN50716, and IEEE 1558.
- Knowledge of quality process standards such as ISO and CMMI.
- Knowledge of communication networks and protocols related to railway systems, including MVB, Ethernet, and CAN.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts relevant to embedded and railway applications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality.
- Ability to build credibility and maintain positive working relationships with peers and management.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision on cross-disciplinary challenges.
Preferred Skills- Exposure to SIL standards for rail-road products.
- Experience with software development and verification tools such as:
- STP Software through Pictures
- National Instruments CVI
- QAC MISRA software static analyzer
- Client microcontroller compilers and linkers
- Trace32 debuggers and scripting
- Knowledge of Italian and/or French language.
