Technology PMO plays a key role in ensuring successful delivery of technology initiatives by establishing project governance, providing strategic oversight, standardizing processes, and enabling effective portfolio management. This role partners closely with IT leadership, project managers, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals, transparency of project performance, and continuous improvement of delivery practices.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Program Governance
- Develop, implement, and maintain PMO standards, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
- Establish governance frameworks including stage gates, reporting cadences, and risk/issue management processes.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements related to project delivery.
Portfolio Management
- Oversee the full technology project portfolio, including intake, prioritization, resource planning, and budgeting.
- Monitor portfolio health, financials, and strategic alignment.
- Prepare dashboards, executive summaries, and performance metrics for senior leadership.
Project Oversight & Support
- Provide coaching and guidance to project managers and scrum masters.
- Track and manage cross-project dependencies and risks.
- Facilitate project kickoff sessions, steering committee meetings, and retrospectives.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving delivery efficiency and project outcomes.
- Lead initiatives to standardize tools, templates, and reporting structures.
- Drive continuous improvement in PMO capabilities and maturity.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Serve as a central communication point between IT and business units.
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate status updates for executives.
- Build strong partnerships with technology leaders, finance, and operations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 5–10 years of experience in project/program management, technology delivery, or PMO roles.
- Experience with enterprise technology environments, application development, infrastructure projects, or digital transformation.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile certifications preferred).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and executive reporting capabilities.
- Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools (Jira, MS Project, etc.).
- Ability to work in fast-paced, matrixed environments and manage multiple priorities.
