About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of our game development projects. You will work closely with game designers, engineers, artists, QA, LiveOps, marketing, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and meet our quality standards.
As a Project Manager, you are expected to drive collaboration across multiple teams, improve development processes, identify risks before they become issues, and keep everyone aligned toward shared project goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of game development projects from concept to launch and post-launch support.
- Define project scope, milestones, deliverables, schedules, and resource allocation together with stakeholders.
- Create and maintain detailed project plans, sprint roadmaps, and release schedules.
- Coordinate daily communication between internal teams and external partners across different time zones.
- Track project progress, identify potential risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, and proactively implement mitigation plans.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Ensure development tasks are properly prioritized and aligned with business objectives.
- Monitor project KPIs including schedule adherence, sprint velocity, burndown, milestone completion, and team productivity.
- Manage project documentation including specifications, timelines, meeting notes, decision logs, and project reports.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration between Game Design, Engineering, Art, Animation, QA, LiveOps, Marketing, Publishing, and Product teams.
- Work closely with QA to ensure features meet quality standards before release.
- Coordinate feature integration, testing schedules, submission timelines, and release readiness.
- Support production planning for live operations, content updates, seasonal events, and future roadmap execution.
- Manage stakeholder expectations by providing regular project status updates and transparent reporting.
- Remove blockers and resolve project conflicts to maintain development momentum.
- Continuously improve project workflows, communication processes, and development efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of project management experience, with at least 2-3 years in the game industry.
- Strong understanding of the complete game development lifecycle, from pre-production to live operations.
- Experience managing mobile, PC, or console game development projects.
- Proven experience working with multidisciplinary teams including programmers, artists, game designers, UI/UX designers, QA, and LiveOps.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid project management methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with project management tools such as Jira, ClickUp, Trello, Asana, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify risks early and develop practical solutions.
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with changing priorities.
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and decision-making.
- Fluent in English both written and verbal.
- Mandarin proficiency is a strong advantage, especially for collaborating with overseas teams and partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with international or distributed development teams.
- Familiarity with Unity, Unreal Engine, or other commercial game engines.
- Experience coordinating LiveOps, seasonal events, monetization updates, or post-launch content.
- Understanding of game publishing processes for Google Play, App Store, Steam, or console platforms.
- Knowledge of game analytics, player behavior metrics, and KPI monitoring.
- Experience coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Closed Beta Test (CBT), Open Beta Test (OBT), and Live Ops events creation related to marketing activities.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and game release management processes.
- Understanding of version control systems such as Git, Plastic SCM, or Perforce.
- PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or similar project management certifications are a plus.
- Passion for games with a solid understanding of the mobile gaming industry, especially RPG, Strategy, Simulation, and Live Service games.
