Technical Lead – Backend

We are looking for a hands-on Backend Technical Lead to drive the design, development, scalability, and operational excellence of our EV Charging platform. This role will be responsible for leading backend architecture and solution design, ensuring production stability, and mentoring engineers across multiple backend services.

You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to build resilient, high-performance systems that operate at scale in a cloud-native environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend architecture, system and solution design
• Own the end-to-end delivery of backend services
• Build highly available, scalable, secure, and high-performance systems
• Drive code quality, engineering best practices, and design reviews
• Design and implement event-driven and asynchronous systems
• Investigate production issues and drive root-cause analysis
• Work closely with DevOps on deployment, monitoring, and reliability
• Optimize database performance, queries, and overall system efficiency
• Mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives across teams

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Golang and production backend systems
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, concurrency, and performance optimization
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and system-to-system integrations
• Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS
• Experience with Kafka/event streaming and real-time communication such as WebSockets
• Hands-on experience debugging production issues
• Experience with AWS or Azure
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience working with high-traffic or real-time systems
• Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Exposure to Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, Sentry, or similar

Good to Have

• Experience in EV charging, mobility, IoT, or distributed/device-integrated platforms
• Familiarity with OCPI/OCPP
• Exposure to payment, billing, or transaction-heavy systems
• Beginner to intermediate knowledge of Java
