Team Manager Government & Community Relations

In this role, you will lead government and community engagement across corporate and operating assets, translating strategic priorities into coordinated stakeholder engagement and advocacy plans. You will work with government authorities, communities, internal leadership, and asset teams to manage regulatory, political, and social risks while supporting business continuity and maintaining our social license to operate.

About the Role

This role will translate the company's stakeholder-management strategy into coordinated engagement plans at national, regional, and asset levels. The position will lead a team of Government Relations and Local Government & Community Relations professionals while proactively managing regulatory, political, and social risks that may affect operations and project continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Government Relations and Local Government & Community Relations teams across corporate and operating assets.
• Translate corporate priorities into structured government and stakeholder engagement plans.
• Maintain strategic relationships with ministries, regulators, provincial and local governments, community representatives, and other key stakeholders.
• Represent the company in hearings, regulatory consultations, working groups, and official forums when delegated.
• Lead stakeholder mapping, community consultations, socialization activities, and grievance-management mechanisms.
• Monitor government, regulatory, political, and community developments that may affect operations or projects.
• Develop advocacy strategies, issue-position papers, executive briefings, and stakeholder communication materials.
• Ensure consistent governance, reporting, documentation, and engagement standards across all assets.
• Provide structured analysis and recommendations to leadership on emerging regulatory and social risks.
• Oversee team priorities, capability development, performance management, and approved program budgets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Political Science, Communication, Public Administration, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in government relations, public affairs, stakeholder management, or regulatory advocacy.
• Demonstrated experience managing government and community engagement programs across multiple locations or operational assets.
• Proven exposure to policy advocacy, regulatory engagement, and legislative processes at national and/or regional levels.
• Experience representing organizations in regulatory consultations, hearings, or formal government forums.
• Strong understanding of Indonesian government structures, regulatory frameworks, and central and regional political dynamics.
• Proven leadership experience, including team development, performance management, and capability building.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, issue resolution, and executive advisory capabilities.
