Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director – Indonesia

Location: Jakarta, Indonesia

Department: Finance & Tax

Reporting to: Group CFO / VP of Finance

Position Type: Full-time (Urgent Hiring)

Position Overview

We are looking for a sharp, agile, and high-caliber Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director to be based in Jakarta. As the local Tax Lead for our Indonesia operations (including manufacturing plants), you will be fully responsible for managing tax compliance, mitigating regulatory and audit risks, and leading direct engagements with local tax authorities (DGT).

This is a critical and high-impact role requiring exceptional problem-solving skills, strong tax office resources, and the ability to navigate complex tax disputes effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1) Tax Bureau Relations & Dispute Resolution: Lead direct liaisons and negotiations with the local Indonesian Tax Office (Direktorat Jenderal Pajak / DGT). Leverage local professional network and resources to resolve ongoing or potential tax disputes, audits, and inquiries efficiently.

2) Tax Risk Management & Audit Defense: Conduct comprehensive tax risk assessments across our local production bases; formulate proactive defense strategies for tax audits, investigations, and assessments.

3) Tax Compliance & Oversight: Oversee overall tax compliance (CIT, VAT, WHT, Transfer Pricing, customs/duties, etc.) for local Indonesian entities to ensure strict adherence to local laws and corporate governance standards.

4) Strategic Advisory: Serve as the trusted tax advisor to the Group CFO and leadership team, providing timely insights on updates in Indonesian tax regulations, potential financial exposures, and tax optimization strategies.

5) Cross-Border Collaboration: Work closely with the HQ finance/tax team to align local operations with global tax structures and policies.

Candidate Profile & Key Qualifications

1. Professional Background & Experience

Minimum 8+ years of progressive tax or finance experience gained from Big 4 accounting firms and/or Multinational Corporates (MNCs).

Candidates currently in either Tax-focused roles or Finance/Accounting leadership roles with extensive, hands-on tax experience are equally welcome.

Proven track record of successfully handling complex Indonesian tax audits, tax litigation, and direct interactions with local tax authorities.

Strong, established relationships/networks within local tax bureaus in Indonesia are highly desired.

2. Language & Cultural Background

Languages: Fluent in English (required). Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) is highly preferred to facilitate seamless communication with HQ leadership. Native or business-level Bahasa Indonesia is required.

3. Soft Skills & Personal Traits
