Job Description

GTMLab is a growth consultancy in Jakarta. We build revenue systems for technology companies: the diagnosis, the method, the measurement — and we don't just hand over a slide deck, we stay and do the work until it's actually working. Since 2024, we've grown from a small founding team to 100+ people and worked with 500+ clients, from local SMEs to regional enterprises.

If you are working one company, you learn how that one company works. That's useful, but it's also all you get — one industry, one product, one point of view.

At GTMLab, you work with us, but you work across different client businesses. One project might be an AI platform, the next could be something completely different. You keep learning new things without needing a new role to see something new — you won't have to switch employers to get exposed to different industries.

YOUR FIRST PROJECT

An Indonesian AI platform running WhatsApp, Instagram and web chat for businesses, with agents that answer, qualify and book around the clock. The product is ready. The route to market, segment by segment, is what we have been brought in to build.

(Client name disclosed at interview.)

The product already works well. What's missing is a clear plan: which industries should they sell to first, what should they say to them, and which of those answers will survive being exported to another country That plan doesn't exist yet — building it is the job.

WHAT YOU WOULD INHERIT ON DAY ONE

You're not starting from zero. Already built: a way to tell if a lead is worth pursuing, a routing system that gets it to the right person, a dashboard that tracks everything from first enquiry to closed revenue, and the diagnostic for the first industry. What doesn't exist yet is the plan for every other segment and market — that's the job.

THE JOB, IN THREE STEPS

  1. Test — Guess and check. Pick a segment. Think about why that industry might want this product. Then talk to real business owners to see if your guess is right. You'll probably be wrong sometimes — that's expected.
  2. Codify — Write the playbook. Turn what you learned into a simple guide: who's worth approaching, what to say, and what proof actually convinces them.
  3. Transfer — Hand it off, move on. Give your guide to the client's team, then take what you learned to the next market. What works in one industry might not work in another country — figuring that out is where you learn the most.

You're not selling the product yourself and you're not running the client's day-to-day operations. You're figuring out how this product should be sold — and proving it by actually talking to real people.

SEGMENTS AND MARKETS

Segments in play: Clinics and healthcare. Travel agencies. Education. Multi-branch retail and restaurants. Professional services.

Markets, in sequence: Indonesia first, until the approach works. Then Malaysia and Singapore. Then the Gulf.

Both of those lists will probably turn out to be partly wrong. Figuring out which parts, and why, is part of the job.

HOW YOU GROW HERE

Four steps. You move to the next one once you're ready — there's no fixed timeline.

  • You own a segment. One industry becomes yours. You do the research, build the playbook, and teach it to the team and the client.
  • You own a market. You take the same approach to a new country and see what needs to change.
  • You own a client. You move to a different client, in a different industry.
  • You lead a project. You run your own team. This is what most people in this role work toward — and it's easier to reach here than inside just one company.

A WEEK IN THE SEAT

  • Monday: the team decides what this week needs to answer.
  • Most days: 3–4 conversations with real business owners.
  • Deep, not wide: you focus on one industry until you understand it well.
  • Writing: what you guessed, what you found, and what changed your mind.
  • Friday: you share what you got wrong this week — that's the goal, not a bad sign.

The playbook keeps changing as you learn more. Write it so someone else can follow it without you.

HOW WE'LL TRAIN YOU

You won't be left to figure it out alone. Three stages:

  1. Absorb. Learn the product, read what's already been written, and sit in on other people's conversations. You finish this stage by writing your first guess about an industry.
  2. Run. Run your own conversations, with coaching every week. You'll be wrong in front of others fairly often — that's normal, not a bad sign.
  3. Own. You take full ownership of one industry: build the guide and teach it to the team and the client.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Fresh graduate from any field. Internships, campus organisations, part-time work, or a personal project where you had to think something through and convince someone of it — all count.
  • You can sit with a stranger's problem for an hour and end up more curious than when you started.
  • You can explain something technical to a non-technical person without making them feel dumb.
  • You write clearly.
  • You'd rather be judged on results than watched over.
  • English good enough to run a work session with a client. Bahasa Indonesia as a first language.
  • In the office full time five days a week at our Menteng office— the training happens in person, not over a call.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

Not a call centre. You're not working off a script or a call list. Every conversation tests something you wrote down beforehand.

Not pure strategy. You're responsible for a real number from day one. That's how you find out if your thinking was right.

Not one client forever. You move between projects. If you want to stay inside one product for years, this isn't the right fit.

GTMLab hires based on what you can do, not your background. We don't ask for photos, what your parents do, or which university you went to. We care what you're like in the room.
