Role Overview
The Frontend Engineer is responsible for building the client-side of web applications. They translate user needs into a functional interface, ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs. This includes developing new user-facing features, building reusable code and libraries for future use, optimizing applications for speed and scalability, and ensuring all user input is validated before submitting to the back end.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality front-end applications that deliver excellent user experiences across web platforms.
- Translate UI/UX designs, wireframes, and product requirements into clean, efficient, and maintainable front-end code.
- Build and maintain reusable components, libraries, and front-end frameworks to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to ensure accurate implementation of design intent and usability standards.
- Work with backend engineers to integrate front-end solutions with server-side systems and APIs.
- Ensure applications are optimized for performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Implement best practices for front-end architecture, code quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior and mid-level front-end engineers.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve front-end bugs, performance issues, and usability problems.
- Participate in technical discussions, contributing to front-end technology decisions and improvements.
- Ensure proper validation of user input before submission to back-end services.
- Collaborate with QA teams to support testing, bug fixing, and release readiness.
- Stay up to date with emerging front-end technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, and recommend relevant improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3.
- Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, such as AngularJS, ReactJS.
- Understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
- Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges.
- Effective communication skills to effectively collaborate with designers, developers, and other team members.
- Attention to detail to implement precise visual designs.
- Creativity to produce innovative solutions and features.
- Ability to learn quickly to keep up with new design trends and technologies.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in front-end development tools and languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as React, or Angular.
- Knowledge of testing and debugging tools.
- Familiarity with browser-based debugging and performance testing software.
- Experience with responsive and adaptive design.
