Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and interpret Indonesian forestry, carbon, and land-use regulations to ensure legal compliance.
  • Prepare and manage permits, licenses, and documentation for government submissions.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies (KemenLH, KemenHut, BPDLH, KPH) to support project approvals and coordination.
  • Ensure alignment with carbon standards such as Verra VCS, Gold Standard, Plan Vivo, and CCB.
  • Support the development and review of Project Design Documents (PDDs) and validation/verification processes.
  • Provide legal and technical input on additionality, permanence, leakage, and non-permanence risks.
  • Collaborate with GIS, MRV, and community teams to integrate legal considerations into project planning.
  • Contribute to carbon stock assessments, biomass calculations, and restoration protocol design.
  • Engage with community forestry groups, local NGOs, and customary landholders in line with FPIC and benefit-sharing frameworks.
  • Maintain internal updates on policy changes and ensure timely reporting to national registries and VCM platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in forestry, Environmental Law, Natural Resource Management, or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in carbon project development, forestry or environmental sustainability
  • Strong knowledge of Indonesian forestry laws and permitting processes.
  • Proven experience with Verra VCS, CCB Standards, or other carbon certification frameworks.
  • Familiarity with VCM (Voluntary Carbon Market) and Article 6 implementation is a strong advantage.
  • Experience working with NGOs, private sector, or government forestry programs.
  • Excellent understanding of land tenure, licensing, and carbon rights in Indonesia.
  • Connections with key stakeholders in KLHK, BPDLH, or local FMUs.
  • Experience in carbon policy advocacy or participation in VCM working groups.
