Role Overview
We are seeking a Pre-Sales Solutions Architect who will focus primarily (75%) on presales, solutioning, and pitch support, with some involvement in delivery oversight when needed.
You will act as the technical consultant in pitchestranslating client needs into the right solution architecture, comparing technologies, working closely with vendor development teams, and ensuring proposals are technically sound, cost-efficient, and compelling.
This is a technology-agnostic role, ideal for someone who has worked across multiple commerce/CMS platforms and can advise clients objectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales & Solutioning (Primary)
- Lead technology solutioning for client pitches across eCommerce, CMS, and app development use cases.
- Analyze client pain points, assess current-state platforms, and recommend the right technology approach.
- Create and present compelling presales decks: solution architecture, functional scope, comparative platform analysis, budgets, timelines.
- Conduct discovery sessions with clients to gather requirements and challenge/clarify asks.
- Provide platform comparisons (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud vs. Adobe Commerce vs. Shopify vs. custom stack).
- Build budgetary and timeline estimations for proposals.
Vendor Management
- Work closely with external development vendors who supply the engineering teams.
- Review vendor proposals, technical solutioning, estimations, and timelines.
- Identify and correct overestimations, inaccuracies, or misaligned solutions.
- Ensure that vendors operate with transparency and meet quality expectations.
Technical Advisory & Delivery Support
- Support the internal Solution Architect during project delivery when required (light involvement).
- Validate architecture decisions, technical feasibility, and quality of implementation.
- Participate in technical discussions on CMS, eCommerce, web/app platforms.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Technical Background
- Experience across multiple technologies (must have at least 2 of the following):
- Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC)
- Adobe Commerce / Magento
- Shopify / Shopify Plus
- Headless / JAMStack (React, Node.js, Next.js, etc.)
- CMS platforms: Drupal, WordPress, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
- Strong understanding of:
- Solution architecture
- Platform limitations and trade-offs
- Integration patterns
- Cost/timeline estimation
- Commerce and CMS best practices
Professional Experience
- Previously worked as a Solution Architect, Technical Lead, or Senior Developer who grew into architecture roles.
- Demonstrated ability to compare multiple technologies and avoid bias toward a single platform.
- Experience preparing presales documentation and presenting to enterprise clients.
- Background in digital agencies, system integrators, or consultancy environments strongly preferred.
