Software Engineer Data Platform

Job Description

• Design, build, and maintain data platform systems for data ingestion (batch and streaming), data warehousing, and data retrieval.

• Collaborate with team members (local and remote) to deliver high-quality solutions for our data platform.

• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices to improve code quality and system performance.

• Help manage and operate Kubernetes clusters and cloud infrastructure for the data team.

• Quickly prototype, implement, and iterate on solutions based on feedback from product managers and stakeholders.

• Troubleshoot and debug production issues to ensure reliability and stability of the platform.

• Ensure data quality, consistency, and adherence to data governance standards across all data workflows in the platform.

• Assist with monitoring, logging, and alerting to support production systems.

• Contribute to team knowledge by sharing learnings, past experience, and supporting mentorship within the team.

• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• 1-3 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably building backend, data, or distributed systems.

• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Java, Go, or similar (polyglot experience welcomed).

• Good understanding of software engineering fundamentals, algorithms, and design patterns.

• Practical experience in testing, code reviews, version control (Git), and implementing CI/CD pipelines.

• Exposure to monitoring, logging, alerting, and debugging practices for production-grade systems.

• Familiarity with data warehouse technologies and cloud data stores ability to optimize complex queries.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Experience working with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
