Senior Performance Test Engineer

Role Overview:

• Own performance strategy, hands-on test engineering and root-cause analysis for distributed business-critical systems.

• Work across APIs, microservices, WebSocket/streaming services, databases, and Azure AKS infrastructure.

• Mentor junior engineers and influence release-readiness, scalability and capacity decisions.

What You'll Do:

• Define performance NFRs, SLAs/SLOs, workload models, performance budgets and production-like test scenarios.

• Build reusable k6 test suites for REST APIs, microservices and WebSocket/streaming workloads.

• Execute baseline, load, stress, spikes, endurance, scalability, capacity and resilience tests.

• Diagnose bottlenecks using metrics, logs, traces, APM data and Linux, Docker and Kubernetes signals.

• Analyze databases, caches, queues, downstream dependencies, autoscaling and AKS resource behavior.

• Integrate performance tests and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.

• Communicate performance risks, bottlenecks and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.

• Review test designs and scripts and mentor junior performance engineers.

What We're Looking For:

• 4–6 years of hands-on performance testing or performance engineering experience.

• Strong expertise in k6 and JavaScript-based performance scripting.

• Experience building reusable frameworks with thresholds, checks, custom metrics, parameterization and test-data management.

• Experience testing REST APIs, microservices and WebSocket or other realtime/streaming systems. • Strong understanding of workload modelling, latency percentiles, throughput, concurrency, scalability and capacity.

• Ability to diagnose bottlenecks across services, databases, caches, queues, containers and infrastructure.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux and cloud infrastructure.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

• Experience using metrics, logs, distributed traces and APM tools for root-cause analysis.

• Experience in integrating performance tests with CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong communication, documentation and junior-engineer mentoring skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP) or MCP-enabled performance-testing and observability workflows.

• Experience with Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus or Azure Monitor.

• Experience with Redis, Kafka or similar caching and messaging technologies.

• Experience in brokerage, capital markets, fintech or another low-latency, highavailability domain. • Trading-domain knowledge.
