Main Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the site by defining performance KPIs, analyzing overall results, and identifying high-impact Lean/Six Sigma projects;
- Implement and oversee the Management Operating System (MOS): coordinate production meetings, monitor action plans, and facilitate communication between departments (Operations, Maintenance, Laboratory, etc.);
- Supervise metallurgical and quality control activities: validate sampling plans, ensure consistency of metallurgical balances, and oversee the quality of laboratory analyses;
- Manage the Performance team: supervise engineers and technicians, develop competencies, and prepare the plant for future expansion projects (new technologies, processes);
- Monitor daily process performance indicators (grades, recoveries, consumptions) and proactively identify deviations; Optimize the process: adjust operating parameters, test new methods (reagents, grinding or cyanidation conditions) in collaboration with the laboratory;
- Ensure rigorous execution of quality control plans: validate critical results and ensure alignment with the metallurgical balance;
- Support junior staff: coach QC engineers and technicians, share expertise, and act as technical reference in the absence of the manager.
Required Skills
- Advanced technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of metallurgical processes (e.g., leaching, carbon adsorption) and analytical methods;
- Data analysis and synthesis: Ability to work with data series, perform statistical analyses, and propose improvement plans;
- Quality rigor and methodology: Strict adherence to sampling, analysis, and data validation protocols (QA/QC);
- Technical leadership: Ability to supervise, train, and engage a team while leading performance reviews;
- Process data tracking and analysis: Proficient in data historian software (e.g., PI System) for real-time data collection and analysis, and in visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) for creating dynamic dashboards;
- Advanced statistical analysis: Skilled in using Minitab (or equivalent) for SPC (control charts, capability, trends) and ad hoc analyses;
- Metallurgical simulation and mass balance: Proficient with tools such as METSIM, USIM PAC, and Inventeo for process simulation and monthly balance validation;
- Advanced Excel proficiency: Data processing, technical reporting, and performance monitoring.
Education And Experience
- Engineering degree or Master's in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in the metallurgical or mining industry, with strong exposure to ore processing operations and performance management;
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is an asset.
