Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in machine design, UAV mechanical systems, CAD software, manufacturing processes, vendor development, and material sourcing. The candidate will be responsible for leading mechanical design and development activities from concept to prototype and production, ensuring quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead the design and development of UAV mechanical structures, airframes, assemblies, mechanisms, and components.

* Create and review 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs using SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent CAD software.

* Apply machine design principles, GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design optimization.

* Coordinate with electrical, avionics, aerodynamics, manufacturing, and other engineering teams for system integration.

* Select suitable materials and manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, fabrication, and composite manufacturing.

* Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for machined components, raw materials, fabricated parts, and standard hardware.

* Handle material sourcing activities, technical RFQs, vendor quotations, cost optimization, and supplier coordination.

* Lead prototype development, design validation, troubleshooting, and implementation of engineering improvements.

* Ensure proper technical documentation, drawing revisions, quality standards, and design change management.

* Guide junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and drive timely completion of engineering projects.

Required Skills and Experience:

* 9–12 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, machine design, and UAV/aerospace-related product development.

* Strong hands-on experience in UAV mechanical design or aerospace mechanical systems.

* Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent CAD software.

* Awareness of applicable ISO standards and aerospace standards such as AS9100, including quality management systems, engineering documentation, configuration control, and compliance requirements.

* Good understanding of machine design, engineering materials, manufacturing processes, GD&T, and structural design.

* Practical experience in vendor development, material sourcing, supplier evaluation, and cost estimation.

* Knowledge of FEA tools such as ANSYS and experience in prototype-to-production development will be an advantage.

* Strong problem-solving, technical documentation, project coordination, and team leadership skills.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering.
