What We're Looking For

As part of our FIT to grow strategy we have completed the transitioning from an area to a global operation, where changes have been made to how we are organised and how we work within the Fleet Services Department (FSD) to create a global In-service Team that will provide fast, fair and consistent decisions that support our colleagues and clients wherever they are in the world, 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. To meet this aim, we have created four groups across the globe in the Americas, Asia, North Europe and South Europe.

We have vacancies for colleagues who want to join our new teams and be part of the transformation of fleet services into a new structure which helps to increase our agility and responsiveness to clients, keeping their fleets moving, compliant and safe. It will be a challenging role balancing the demand of our clients with our rules, requirements from external regulators and governance requirements.

We want to make use of your knowledge and experience in many asset types and standards including: Tanker, Bulk, GAS, PaX, floating offshore assets, Linkspans, Tugs, Naval ships, Yachts, Boats, and diving systems or submersibles.

You will work within a regional team delivering rapid, clear consistent decisions and advice on classification. Providing robust governance in support of LRs procedures and contributing to improvement projects. Provide specialist statutory knowledge within own discipline and experience.

You won't have to move and can station anywhere in Asia, the transition to a global team is intended to make it easier for colleagues around the world to join the Fleet Services In-service team, to develop their experience, career and to support the team.

The role

  • To perform complex assessments and provide statutory specialist advice / contribution to the Fleet Services In-Service. Appropriately managing LR's technical risk.
  • To review, assess and deply actions for service delievery to verify correct implementation of statutory requirements in accordance with the respective statutory conventions.
  • Responsible for decisions regarding postponements of surveys, lay-up and reactivation, confirmation of class, and enhanced survey under teh authority of the Classification Committee as defined in FSD's procedures.
  • Monitor own case load and ensure adherence to classification procedures so that defined standards and performance measure are upheld.
  • To audit and endorse survey reports issued globally, and ensure corrective action implemented at the corporate level as applicable.
  • To provide specialist support / advice within a discipline / area to internal / external clients.
  • Provide support to projects for the development and improvement of global marine processes for classification of vessels in accordance with LR and FSD strategy. Contribute to improving Lloyd's Register's competitive position through the accuracy, consistency and speed of our response.
  • To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
  • To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.

What You Bring

  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd's Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship's officer.
  • Knowledge of marine classification and statutory certification surveys commensurate with practical experience of a wide variety of ship types gained by prior employment as a denoir surveyor.
  • Knowledge and understanding of marine classification processes and procedures.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and managers.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work.
