Overview

Royal Canin aims to be the reference for health through nutrition for cats and dogs. The Senior

Health Affairs Manager is pivotal in establishing Royal Canin as a scientific thought leader in the

animal health industry, ensuring the delivery of our scientific message to all stakeholders. This

role acts as a credible and knowledgeable source of scientific and nutrition-based information,

both within the business and externally.

This role is responsible for leading and coordinating the local Health Affairs team, acting as the

key liaison between the line manager, team members, and local unit functions. The jobholder

will drive alignment, foster collaboration, and ensure effective communication across

departments to deliver on strategic objectives. The role also builds relationships with key

opinion leaders and professional associations, and supports the development and execution of

scientific communication programs and materials.

As part of the Corporate Affairs team in Southeast Asia, this person is also expected to provide

support to other members of the team whenever deemed appropriate and necessary to fulfil

the goals and ambitions of Royal Canin locally and globally.

Key Responsibilities

General

Lead, coordinate, and develop the local Scientific Communication & Scientific Affairs

strategy with Pillar Heads and demand teams.

Act as the primary country coordinator, ensuring seamless communication and

collaboration between the line manager, team members, and local unit functions.

Develop/adapt all scientific communication materials and training modules for local market

needs.

Develop and execute technical/product/nutritional presentations to key internal and external stakeholders.

Coordinate and develop education strategies for multiple segments within the market with support of Health Affairs team members.

Provide technical/product support to key areas of the business including Consumer Care, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing/Sales, and Digital teams.

Attend relevant global/scientific communications meetings and trainings, keeping up to date with all products launches and veterinary/scientific information needed for the role.

Education for Internal Stakeholders

Train internal stakeholders (associates) and relevant agencies engaged by the business unit including but not limited to: on-boarding, new product/product uplift training, sales representatives and consumer facing representatives continuous education.

Work hand in hand with Sales, Marketing, and Digital team in organizing event and proof-reading the on-pack and off-pack communications from scientific point of view.

Education for External Stakeholders

Organize both online and offline education initiatives for customers.

Present/ deliver nutritional and animal knowledge trainings to external stakeholders as required by the business unit

Manage customers and end-consumers enquiry and feedbacks regarding product quality

Serve as scientific spokesperson as required

Provide technical/ product support and represent Royal Canin at local conference/exhibitions

Provide veterinary advice for customers and consumers as required

Provide articles and writings with scientific journals and trade media as required

Key Opinion Leaders and Stakeholders Management

Drive enhancement of internal and external reputation by identifying, interpreting, and influencing the emerging scientific environment.

Co-create with pillar heads on providing values that aligns with our company's purpose within KOL strategy.

Develop and execute Royal Canin scientific KOL strategy with support of Health Affairs team members.

Manage and further develop the network of key opinion leaders, academics and others that can influence Royal Canin standing in the scientific arena across pillars. Manages relationships for best business benefit

Develop and execute veterinary universities strategy including nutrition lectures, student ambassadors and collaborative initiatives.

Review and edit press releases and provide input on media strategy/toolkits where related to nutrition, scientific areas

Monitors, interprets and communicates developments in science and nutrition, and assesses their impact upon the business.

Job Requirements

  • Degree of Veterinary Medicine
  • Professional certification in small animal medicine is an advantage
  • Post-graduate degree or any veterinary related certifications is desirable
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) in English and Bahasa
  • Ability to communicate in local dialects is desirable
  • Minimum 5-years of experience in small veterinary medicine or related field
  • Prior experience in training/education or marketing related to scientific, technical content
  • Prior experience in veterinary association, professional organization or scientific networks is desirable
  • Prior experience in working with cross functions within an organization is an advantage
  • Prior experience in leading team is a plus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
