Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Safety Downstream Assistant Manager to drive Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) excellence across our downstream operations. This role is responsible for leading the deployment of Unilever's SHE Framework Standards (FWS), ensuring compliance with global and regulatory requirements, and fostering a strong Zero Harm culture throughout the organization.
The successful candidate will lead SHE capability building, behavioral safety initiatives, contractor safety programs, and governance processes while supporting continuous improvement across downstream operations. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, HR, Site SHE teams, and global stakeholders, this position plays a critical role in strengthening safety performance and ensuring alignment with Unilever's global SHE strategy.
Responsibilities
- Drive the deployment and implementation of Unilever SHE Framework Standards (FWS) across downstream operations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable SHE standards through gap assessments, risk evaluations, and timely implementation of corrective action plans.
- Lead the development of SHE culture and behavioral safety programs to support a Zero Harm workplace.
- Partner with HR and relevant stakeholders to develop and deliver SHE capability-building and safety training programs.
- Maintain accurate SHE documentation, performance records, and timely reporting through SHENet and other relevant systems.
- Lead Contractor Safety, Process Safety, and Environmental programs within the downstream area.
- Conduct SHE audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions.
- Collaborate with site SHE teams to align local practices with Unilever's global SHE strategy and standards.
- Benchmark and replicate SHE best practices from high-performing sites to strengthen operational performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety performance, environmental compliance, and operational risk management.
Accountability
- Ensure effective implementation and governance of Unilever SHE Framework Standards across downstream operations.
- Maintain compliance with corporate SHE requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
- Strengthen and sustain a proactive Zero Harm culture through employee engagement and behavioral safety initiatives.
- Ensure effective management of contractor safety, process safety, and environmental risks.
- Deliver SHE capability-building programs through training, coaching, and awareness activities.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete SHE reporting and documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement of SHE performance through proactive risk management and best practice sharing.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English.
- Willing to be relocated and work from Sei Mangkei, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra.
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) within manufacturing, chemical, oleochemical, petrochemical, oil refining, or other process industry environments.
- Experience implementing SHE management systems and driving compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of safety management systems, risk assessment, incident investigation, behavioral safety, contractor safety, process safety, and environmental management.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
- Demonstrated capability in driving safety culture improvement and SHE performance initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or equivalent SHE certifications.
- Experience with Unilever SHE Framework Standards or other global SHE management systems.
- Knowledge of SHENet or equivalent SHE reporting platforms.
- Experience conducting compliance assessments and implementing corrective action plans.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM), environmental sustainability programs, and risk-based safety methodologies.
- Experience benchmarking and implementing SHE best practices across manufacturing operations.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and training delivery capabilities.
