Research & Development Manager (foodtech)

fitness & supplement brand is looking for an experienced and innovative Research & Development Manager (Foodtech) to join its growing team in BSD, Tangerang.

Role Description

• Lead research and development of new fitness and health supplement products based on market trends, consumer needs, and business objectives.
• Develop and optimize supplement formulations in various formats, including powder, capsules, tablets, and ready-to-drink (RTD) products.
• Oversee laboratory and pilot-scale trials, ensuring product quality, taste, texture, solubility, and stability.
• Collaborate with QC, Production, Regulatory, and Marketing teams to ensure successful product development and commercialization.
• Evaluate raw materials and active ingredients based on scientific research, supplier documentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Improve existing product formulations based on consumer feedback, cost efficiency, and regulatory updates.
• Provide technical insights, internal product training, and R&D support for marketing initiatives.
• Monitor industry trends, competitor products, and ingredient innovations to identify new product opportunities.
• Maintain accurate R&D documentation, including product specifications, trial reports, SOPs, and regulatory documents.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the R&D team to drive innovation, efficiency, and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of R&D experience, preferably in the dietary supplement, nutraceutical, or functional food industry.
• Strong knowledge of supplement formulation, including protein blends, BCAAs, vitamins, and other active ingredients.
• Good understanding of BPOM, Halal, GMP, HACCP, and product registration requirements.
• Proven experience managing product development from concept and formulation to pilot scale-up and commercial launch.
• Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, product stability, sensory evaluation, and shelf-life testing.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with sports nutrition, health supplement trends, and consumer behavior.
• Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
• Established networks with raw material suppliers, laboratories, or research institutions are an advantage.
