Remote Interpreter - Mandarin Speaker

Role Overview:

This opportunity is for a fully remote Mandarin Interpreter role. In this position, you will play an important role in facilitating clear and effective communication between English and Mandarin speakers via phone or video calls while ensure communication is accurate, neutral, and culturally appropriate.

Responsibility:

1. Provide accurate, complete, and impartial interpretation between Mandarin and English for Mandarin-speaking patients during medical consultations, treatments, procedures, and hospital visits.

2. Interpret complex medical terminology, diagnoses, treatment plans, consent forms, and discharge instructions with high accuracy.

3. Assist patients and healthcare providers in ensuring mutual understanding during clinical interactions.

4. Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policies.

5. Support communication across various hospital departments, including outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, inpatient units, and specialty care services.

6. Adapt interpreting style to suit different settings, including in-person, telephone, or video interpretation (if applicable).

7. Promote cultural sensitivity and awareness, helping healthcare staff better understand cultural nuances that may affect patient care and communication.

8. Accurately document interpretation services when required by hospital procedures.

9. Stay updated with medical terminology, healthcare protocols, and interpreting best practices.

Qualifications:

1. Bilingual in Mandarin and English

2. Strong listening, retention, and note‑taking skills

3. Ability to remain neutral and follow interpretation guidelines

4. Availability to work US time zone hours (5 days per week, 9 hours per day)
